Ortler Hintergrat 3.905m
One of the most beautiful ridge climbs in the Eastern Alps.
At 3,905 m, the Ortler is the highest mountain in South Tyrol and the Tyrol region. The heavily glaciated mountain is the main peak of the Ortler Alps in the southern Eastern Alps. Its first ascent in 1804 on the orders of Archduke Johann of Austria is one of the most important mountaineering achievements of that time.
The Ortler is now considered one of the most important summit destinations in the Eastern Alps. The normal route leads to the summit via the north. All ascents of the Ortler are demanding alpine tours. The Ortler north face is actually the largest ice wall in the Eastern Alps. Other ascents are the Hintergrat, the normal route from the Payerhütte and the Hochjochgrat.
Great crossing of the Ortler. One of the most beautiful ridge tours in the Eastern Alps.
The ascent is via the Hintergrat, the descent via the normal route.
The Hintergrat is a real classic and is mentioned in the same breath as the Hörnligrat, Bisncograt, Große Zinne - Normalweg and Stüdlgrat.
The first ascent of the Hintergrat on the Ortler took place in August 1805 by J. Pichler and companions. Experience the same emotions as the first ascents with your mountain guide from South Tyrol.

My wife and I went multi-pitch and sport climbing with Florian in the Vallunga. Florian was funny, very experienced and extremely competent. Highly recommended!
